How to deal with accusations
“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” – Revelation 12:10
One of the personalities of the enemy in the end times is the accuser. There are three powers the enemy is allowed to have:
- The power to tempt, to pursue, and to accuse.
- Persecution is the highest form of attack from the enemy. It is the final weapon he uses to stop us.
He uses accusation against us when we become a threat to him. If you are doing nothing for God, you aren’t a threat, thus the enemy does not persecute you. He uses people to accuse you and tries to use you to accuse others. He’s able to use us in this way if we give him room to. Too often, many people stop what they are doing because they are being persecuted.
Why does the enemy use accusations?
The enemy accuses and persecutes us in order to wear us out mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Many people accuse others through gossip or slander.
All accusation comes to destroy our testimony and destroy our credibility.
If our testimony is destroyed, we instantly lose credibility. It rises everywhere, from our own home to the church. The enemy wants to ruin our reputation, to stop us, and to slander us. The purpose of all of his accusation is to bring defamation to the children of God.
If someone does not believe what you are saying, how can they listen to you?
Unfortunately, people believe more the negative than the positive. In order to overcome and defeat the enemy and his accusations, we need to testify. Accusation come to kill our influence, but our testimony is more powerful than slander and gossip.
Accusation causes us to question our faith.
The purpose of accusation is to make us stop believing what we are believing. Questioning, why we haven’t received breakthrough yet, or what we did wrong.
We begin to question everything and feel guilty when we are accused. We need to go straight to God and find answers in Him. Answers to why and how these accusations happened. We need to look to Him and remember what He has promised us.
Accusation comes to assassinate your character.
“Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.” – Genesis 4:8
In those times of the Bible, Cain killed his brother physically. However, in the time we live in, many are killed spiritually because others killed their influence, their testimony, and their credibility.
“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.” – Matthew 5:11
Be aware if you believe the lies and accusations said about others, you too are receiving the venom of the enemy.
How do you respond to accusation?
“Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, “Do You answer nothing? See how many things hey testify against You!” But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled.” – Mark 15:4-5
When you are being accused, don’t defend yourself. Simply, do not respond. Just as Jesus did not respond.
The enemy provokes us with accusation and wants us to respond. He becomes frustrated when he attacks and we do not respond. But when we do react he will always use our response to attack us again.
We must learn to grab onto what the word says. In the midst of accusation and persecution, God will always be present. We must stay firm and keep our eyes on God and stay on the path that He has put us on.
Do not give reason for your circumstances. You don’t need to justify why you have depression or why you have problems. Don’t justify it and don’t accept it. Those are bondages the enemy puts on you to keep you from living the life God wants you to live.
Remember the enemy is under our feet, we must never give in.
Seek the truth.
“Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed. 2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren. 3 Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.” – Acts 14:1-3
Many hear accusations about someone and they will believe it. If we want answers and truth we must always go first to the Holy Spirit.
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” – Ephesians 6:13
Greatest opposition leads to breakthrough.
The place of highest opposition is the place of our breakthrough. There, God holds your victory. If we stand firm and if we refuse to believe the venom of the enemy, God will be waiting for us to give us what He promised.
When people accuse, it forms and sharpens a sword that kills our dignity, our credibility, and our testimony, but as the word says, God will prevent that sword from forming.
“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” – Revelation 12:10-11
